  • Deficiency of vitamin C leads to Scurvy where blood vessels get damaged and blood tries to ooze out.
  • Vitamin C repairs the damaged blood vessels.
  • For improving cardiovascular health Vitamin C needs to be given in high doses through supplements because our body does not make this vitamin on its own. Moreover, the quantity obtained from food is not sufficient.

Riboflavin has several functions to perform.

  • It is necessary for carbohydrate, fat & protein metabolism.
  • It helps in the formation of antibodies and red blood cells; maintains cell respiration.
  • It is also necessary for the maintenance of good vision, skin, nails & hair; alleviates eye fatigue and promotes general health.

Role of L-Lysine:

  • Lysine is very essential to form collagen (which makes up bone, cartilage, connective tissues, and Blood vessels).
  • It is also essential for formation of various enzymes, hormones and antibodies.
  • As this amino acid is not made in the body it has to be supplemented from food or as a dietary supplement.
  • It is not only a building block for blood vessels (Collagen) but it also helps in removing the arterial plaque from the arteries.

Zinc

Role of Zinc:

Zinc is a micronutrient and is essential for various biochemical reactions. Zinc is an important trace element in the body. It plays a critical role in maintaining cellular structure and functions and is also involved in gene expression and cell growth and differentiation as a catalytic and structural cofactor. According to Little et al., plasma zinc levels decrease with age and have a strong association with increasing cardiovascular disease (CVD); thus, there is an association between zinc deficiency and increased CVD

Chromium

Role of Chromium:

Chromium is an essential trace mineral that can improve insulin sensitivity and enhance protein, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism. It is a metallic element that people need very small quantities.
